…growing naturally in northwest georgia…
Beverly Boone Meek is the Owner/Farmer of Flatwood Flower Farm.
It is one of the few cut flower farms located in Northwest Georgia, and also one of the few farms in the South still owned by African Americans, the land having been in her family’s ownership since the early 1950s.
The driving principle of her farm is to grow healthy plants using sustainable and regenerative agricultural practices, and grow both heritage and popular flowers that will expand the purchase options for consumers.
She developed the farm once she retired and moved back home. Flower farming is one of the ways she decided to recapture the joy she remembered growing up and working with her parents on the farm.
She has put her heart and soul into growing the healthiest plants possible using sustainable agricultural practices. She believes that the more people want flowers, the more flowers that will be needed. She values each moment of each day that she can bring joy into someone else’s life with flowers, organically grown and entwined with the soil on her farm.
And finally, she is working to keep her family’s land and grow the local flower market.
